Today we fly to our final island, São Miguel. The chart below show all the islands in the Azores and which ones we've visited.

Before going to the airport we stopped at our last historical "Must See" site before leaving Pico.

These pyramids of lava rock are somewhat of a mystery. The official stance is that they were created by the original settlers in the 1400's as piles of waste rock from when they cleared the land for the cattle and crops. However, certain scientists and researchers believe that due to the similarity of pyramids found in North Africa and the Canary Islands that have proven to be made by ancient peoples, these "pyramids" are evidence a civilization pre-existed the Portuguese, but no one knows for sure.

The flight was only 30 minutes. Note how tall the cliffs are that drop into the ocean. On the right calderas from dormant volcanoes.

They build and farm right to the edge of the cliff!

After landing the car rental company picked us up and took us to our Kia, where we headed off to a grocery store for booze and food and then onto the AirBnb.

The AirBnB is on a small farm where he grows fruit. He was waiting for us at a main intersection nearby and was shocked when we buzzed by, made all the correct turns and pulled up to his driveway. He was seriously impressed as he said only one in ten guests ever find the place and that's why he waited at the intersection for us. Hey, we been around the block, we know navigation! It has no address but he dropped a pin on Google maps and that is all I need.

Pretty comfortable, note the state-of-the-art TV!!!

There's no heat but it has a wood burning fireplace as nights get quite chilly.

Lovely balcony with great views of the ocean.

Outside there is a gazebo you can site in with more great views.

And finally...

The first time we went on the balcony, we did not realize the sliding door was self locking and we locked ourselves out!!!

Fortunately Wendy found an open window and managed to get in without yelling for the owner who lives downstairs. We didn't have our phones with us.

She was able to come to the rescue!

Stay tuned for more fun and adventure!!
